The Past Efforts of MD Beta

2016
  • Annual Pig roast held to continue tradition of recruitment.
  •  In November, we enjoyed a great homecoming with the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta.
  • On November 5th, brothers teamed up with Zeta Tau Alpha to host our annual Trick-Or-Treat for the UMD Children's Development Clinic. Each Saturday for nine weeks, the public health school-based clinic provides support and a safe play area for local children with developmental delays or from at-risk neighborhoods.

2015
  • New sigma class of 15 guys - one of the highest in history.
  • A Spring Break Service Trip to Clemson, South Carolina to build a house for Habitat for Humanity.
  • 3rd annual powderpuff tournament.
  • Continued philanthropic and service efforts towards NICU.
  • Executive board attended the Carlson Leadership Academy in Stamford, CT. Here, our board met other leaders from across the northeast region and exchanged ideas later implemented back in College Park.
  • Won the Greek Paragon Award for outstanding community service learning.
  • Hosted our fourth bi-annual NICU Reunion. The reunion began as an event for former NICU patients and their families to come together to celebrate their progress, as well as, provide an opportunity to thank their caregivers. These reunions have transformed into a highly anticipated event every other year for these small patients and their families.
  • Held our 3rd annual Powderpuff tournament on Fraternity Row. Eleven Sororities participated and all proceeds went to the NICU.
  • VP of programing Chris Frye won 2015 Greek Leader of the Year for his "Do Good Challenge" (an innovative social impact competition) and fundraising efforts for the NICU.
  • Finalist for President's Cup.
  • Undergraduate brothers attended the Grand Chapter Conclave in Nashville and had a great time networking with alumni at the career fair, and observing the largest gathering of our fraternity's ritual that any of our brothers have ever seen; it was truly remarkable.
